Spirit of the Plains Magazine is a Christian magazine for the Northern Plains: North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota. The “Spirit” isn't about religion - it's about Jesus Christ and Him crucified. As we share these God stories with you, our hope is that you will be encouraged by them, that they touch your heart, mind and soul. There isn't a lot of theology here. Our focus is on Scripture, the Bible – God's Word and revelation of His Word through His deeds in and through people's lives and situations. Sin is our downfall. Jesus is our life. We are invited to join Jesus' family. Have you joined? He’s waiting. The Old Testament and New Testament are road maps to eternal life through Jesus. Jesus said, in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” You can believe, trust in Him, and walk with Him. Come along as we share about prayer, the church, our Savior, and much more. There will be the God stories that we spoke of earlier. There will also be articles for children to read and discuss with mom and dad. We just added “Grandpa Dan's Adventures” to the children's section, Along with devotions and inspirational writings, you’ll find information about up coming Christian events, in churches and surrounding communties. If you would like a sample issue of “Spirit of the Plains Magazine,” give us a call or email us. You’ll find our contact information here. God Bless! Visit our About Us page to find out more. |

What is the Purpose of the Moral Law or the Ten Commandments? "What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law." Romans 7:7 The purpose of the moral law - Ten Commanments - is to reveal man's sinfulness and need for salvation. Salvation is granted to those who place their faith in the risen Jesus Christ and repent of their sins. In Galatians 3:24, Paul tells us the the law is the tutor to bring us to Christ. The great preacher John Wesley said we need to preach 90% law and 10% grace. Ray Comfort, in his presentation, "Hell's Best Kept Secret," explains that when we use the moral law in our churches and evangelism efforts, we create converts who: -- understand the reason for God's wrath -- understand God's grace and mercy -- understand their sinful condition -- have gratitude to God for salvation -- understand they don't deserve the hope of heaven based on their own merit -- have gratitude that creates zeal for sharing the moral law with the lost |
